  2. Kamila – EU Legislation does not specify a term for the rabies vaccination. It only says that the pet must enter the EU within the validity of the rabies vaccination. So, your pet can enter any EU Member State with a 3 year rabies vaccination under certain conditions. If the vaccination was administered as the first vaccine after a microchip is implanted, then manufacturer specifications must support it as a primary vaccine. Some 3 year vaccines are for boosters only. If you can convince your veterinarian that your pet’s vaccination was suitable for a primary vaccination, then they may recognize it as such. However, the fact is that, once your pet becomes a resident of Poland (4+ months), then it is subject to Poland’s rabies regulations. Many EU Member States only use one year rabies vaccines.

  3. Hi,

Just want say that POLAND DOES NOT Honor 3 YEAR RABIES Vaccination as is on your website. My dog’s – 3 year Rabies vaccination is finishing on 12/06/2021. I am in Poland and want to Vaccinate my dog before the date. However Poland will give my dog vaccination but not as booster (continuation) but a primary vaccination as POLAND DON’T honor the 3 year period and I have to stay in Poland for 3 Weeks until the vaccination will be valid.

    So WHAT IS CORRECT ????

‘Poland does honor the 3 year rabies vaccination for dogs, cats and ferrets; however, it should only be administered as a booster, not as a primary vaccination. You can speak to your veterinarian about this.

Once your pet has entered Poland, a 21 day waiting period is not required for subsequent visits, provided rabies boosters are kept up to date, and the other entry requirements are met’.

  4. Hi,I will be traveling to Greece from Singapore what are the requirements to bring my cat along?
    Thank you.

  5. Hi Sue – your pup will not need to be spayed or neutered in order to clear customs and enter the US. Know, however, that if it is a dog breed commonly known as dangerous, cities and counties have their own regulations for pets residing in the US.

  7. Troy – when you fly into and out of an airport on the same airline, your pet can transit the country and does not need to conform to import regulations. In this case, the layover should be under 3 hours or the airline must agree to hold your dog during the layover. Obviously, the facilities available to the airline to care for your dog are important on a long layover and you may want to discuss this with your airline. If you claim your dog or change airlines during the layover, your dog will need to clear customs and enter Mexico. Then you will need to recheck it and likely pay another pet fee for the second leg of your trip. Ask your airline how soon before departure from Mexico that your dog must be checked in. There is no way to predict how long clearance procedures will be; that will depend on the level of activity when you clear customs. A general recommendation is 4 hours. You can find regulations to enter Mexico here: https://www.pettravel.com/immigration/mexico.cfm.

  8. We are travelling from Merida Mexico to Vancouver BC. Will have a dog in cargo. There is about a 6 hour layover in Mexico City ( no customs or immigration until Vancouver). It is possible to get our dog and then re-check him for our flight from Mexico City to Vancouver? I think that 6 hours will be too much for him to wait? We are flying on Interjet. Any advice or info you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
