Do you live in England, Scotland or Wales? You need to have your pet microchipped. As of April 6, 2016, it is the law that dogs?must be chipped and registered by 8 weeks of age. If you are found non-compliant, you could face fines of ?500. More details here. Over one million pets to go! Hopefully, this new law will increase chances of reuniting lost dogs with their owners.
UPDATE: Cats must now be microchipped as well.
Bonny – to travel to Ireland from England, your dog should be microchipped, then vaccinated for rabies. You need to get an EU Pet Passport from your veterinarian. It should not be a long process to have the microchip information changed and we don’t believe this will be a problem, but you may want to confirm with your local APHA office.
