Traveling Worldwide with your pet — 615 Comments

  1. Hi, I would like to take my dog to Spain and France and would like to know how much it would cost for injections, what type he needs and if he will be ok on the journey.
Please answer if you can.Don’t worry if you can’t answer all of them.
    Kind regards, Carris
    RESPONSE
The only vaccination required by either country is rabies and most vets charge around a 100 dollars. The pet must also be micro chipped before it is vaccinated for rabies with the ISO 15 digit micro chip which is less than $50.00. About 2 weeks before departure your veterinarian will complete one each of the EU forms 998 for Spain and Germany.
You can find the complete pet passport information and forms for both countries here:

  2. We are flying via Eva Air and bring home a small dog to the Philippines. We have a few hours layover in Taipei. Just wanted to know what we need to do and docs we need for both Taipei and Phil. Not really sure where to get this info, hope you can help. Thanks. And can the yorkie travel with us in the cabin?
    RESPONSE
As to whether the pet can travel in the cabin you need to speak with Eva Air reservations department. You must do so anyway to make a booking for the pet – it cannot be done online. If you are only changing planes on the same airline then the pet will not officially enter the country and nothing more than meeting the requirements for the Phillipines is required. The Philippines require that you obtain an import permit well in advance of arrival. If the layover is longer than a few hours or if you are changing airlines then the pet will need to go through immigration in Taiwan. Taiwan requires a blood titer test.
You can find the pet regulations, information and the necessary forms for both the Philippines and for Taiwan in this website: https://www.pettravelstore.com/categories/Pet-Passports/

  3. hello i have buy a pomeranian puppy in thailand and i want him to bring to europe, Germany can you tell me what I have to do? and also if I go to Croatia or Serbia do I need a blood titer test?thank you
    RESPONSE
Neither Serbia or Croatia require a blood titer test. If you decide to go into one of the EU countries then a blood titer test will be required. To enter Serbia or Croatia with your pet it must be vaccinated for rabies and be accompanied by that countries veterinary health certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian in Thailand.
If you need the complete rules and forms for taking a pet into any country they are available here:

  4. Hello:
My family and I have been living in Malaysia for two+ years. The rest of the family has return to Canada with me remaining in Malaysia to finish a contract.
I would like to send our pet, Toy Poodle, back to Canada to the family.
A family member is flying through Hong Kong this week and another through Shanghai/Chicago in December.
Can we transit the pet through Hong Kong or Shanghai with out problem?
We have the chip and shots up to date. Need to get a Malaysian health certificate, but what about transit without quarentine.
    RESPONSE
Both of your choices can be difficult. If the pet goes through Hong Kong it must remain on the same airline with a layover of less than 4 hours. If it remains on the same plane into and out of Hong Kong then no transit permit is required. If it changes planes but on the same airline then a transit permit is required.

If the pet goes through China you will need the services of a pet transport agent in China who can handle the transfer of planes and avoid quarantine.
There are pet passport packages for both Hong Kong which detail the procedure and contain the necessary forms including the contact information for the agent in China who can handle the transfer in that country.

  5. Hi im traveling to the USA and my daughter fell in love with a kitten and i would love to take him. He is only 3 months old can we take him with us? and what papers would i need? thank you for your response already, we are planning on traveling next week.
    RESPONSE
It would be best if the cat were vaccinated for rabies but it may be too young which will not be a problem.
You do need a certificate of good health which is available here and can be emailed to you today.

  6. Regarding your response, my wife is already in the philipines , she has a 3 month old puppy, she is flying Eva air back to the Seattle, I talked with customs in Seattle and they said they only needing rabies and health, she has 9hr lay over in Taipei, will she need forms for Taipei?
    RESPONSE
Since whe is lying over in Taipai (Taiwan) then she will go through customs with the pet and must comply with their regulations.
    Jerry

  7. My wife wants to bring her dog from the philipines to the Us but she has lay over in Taipei, she is flying Eva air, will she need forms for Taipei? She has rabies doc and health for Us
    RESPONSE
Are you aware that in addition to the veterinary certificates you must obtain an import permit well in advance of your arrival in the Philippines. The same is true of Taiwan but in addition the pet must have a blood titer test six months of the arrival date or it will go into a quarantine center on arrival. If you need the complete instructions and forms for either country they are available here: https://www.pettravelstore.com/categories/Pet-Passports/

  8. I’m trying to get my cat from Majuro, the Marshall Islands, to Singapore. Continental is the only airline that flies to Majuro, but they do not fly to Singapore and they do not interline transfer animals. The only way I can see around this is to send my cat through San Francisco (where my brother lives and can transfer her for me) to transfer to another airline. Is there another way to do this at reasonable costs?

United says they can fly her from SFO, but that she must comply with Japanese regulations as she would transfer there. From reading this blog, it seems that there is nothing necessary as long as she stays on United in Japan. Is that correct?
    RESPONSE
No airline will interline the pets so they must remain on the same airline to avoid meeting the requirements for entry into that country. For instance if yoiu check the pets as far as San Francisco then you will need the documents for the US. If the pet remains on United into and out of Japan and the wait between flights is less than 2 hours then they will transfer the pet to the next flight and Japan will not require a transfer permit. United will not accept the pets unless they are accopanied by all of the documents required by Singapore. If you need additional information there are pet passport forms and instructions for all countries here:

  9. hi, im working in israel and i want to bring my cat with me in the Philippines,, what documents i need to process,, thanks
    RESPONSE
The Philippines require a health certificate that meets their standards and you must apply for an import permit in advance of arrival. You can find the complete pet passport package for the Philippines including the instructions and forms here:

  10. hi
im traveling to southamerica chile with my dog from canada i going to be there for 3 months want to now , please what i need to take him there and what i would need to bring him back to canada were we live , thank you so much caroline
    RESPONSE
Your pet will need to be vaccinated for rabies. Both Chile and Canada require that you have a current certificate of good health. The one for Chile will be completed by a veterinarian in Canada and the one for Canada by a veterinarian in Chile. Chile also requires that the pet have a ticks and tapeworms certificate. You can find the complete pet passport instructions and forms for both countries here:

  12. I live in Egypt but at the middle of January 2012 I will be in London and I have a pet nice female cat,
And really I want to take it with me,
My cat is vaccinated against rabies and i gave her a booster too.
i WANT TO prepare all official documents needed,
so my question about the rout from Cairo to London,THE DOCUMENTS
and what kind of micro ship i need for her
    thank you
    RESPONSE
Egypt is considered a country with a high incidence of rabies. Therefore the steps are as follows: You must first have the cat micro chipped with the ISO 15 digit microchip and then vaccinated for rabies again. 30 days after the vaccination your veterinarian will send a sample of her blood to a testing laboratory for a blood titer test. You must then wait 3 months before you enter the UK from the date the blood sample is drawn. Finally your veterinarian will complete the EU form 998 for the UK and you will be set to go.

You can find the complete pet passport forms and instructions here and we can email them to you:

  13. I want to bring back my Guinea Pig to Canada from Japan.

Is there any way to do that???
    RESPONSE
The pet would not be allowed in the cabin but would probably be allowed as checked baggage in a proper carrier. You need to call the airlines reservations number to discuss this. You may have to try more than one airline to get the response you wish. Canada does not prohibit or even monitor the import of pet Guinea Pigs so you will have no problem bringing it into the country.

  14. I want to fly a puppy from the US to Spain where I live. Supposedly Spain’s requirement is that the pet needs to be over the age of 3 months. At 12 weeks, the puppy should be too heavy to go onboard with me (6kg on Air France and 8kg on Lufthansa).
Do I have any other option but to fly the puppy as cargo? What does it mean, what process do I follow for excess baggage? Might anyone suggest an airline or agency that can help with this? Costs involved? I would be really grateful! Regards Lea
    RESPONSE
The pet needs to be old enough to be vaccinated for rabies at least 21 days before arriving in Spain. It must first be micro chipped with the ISO 15 digit microchip. About 2 weeks before travel your licensed veterinarian will complete the EU form 998 veterinary certificate for Spain and finally this document is certified by the USDA. In order to take the pet as checked baggage you need to call the airline a few weeks before departure to make a booking for the pet. You must call them it cannot be done online. The charge varies as to the airline but it will be about $150.00.

  15. Hello, I have two Pomeranians that I am going to take with me as carryon (bought an extra seat ticket) from the U.S. to Singapore. I will be transitting in Narita Airport but both legs of the flight will be with the same airline. I was told that I need a Transit Permit? I am a bit confused because a year ago, I took the same dog from Singapore through Narita to the U.S. and didn’t have a transit permit. Please advise. Thanks!
    RESPONSE
I am surprised to learn that the airline you have chosen will allow one passenger to bring two pets on board or that they would sell you an extra seat. If you do not clear customs in Japan but merely go from one plant to another and stay inside the customs area then no transit permit is required. If you wish to take the pets for a walk then it gets more complicated.

  16. I am taking my 3 kittens from India to San Fransisco, with a 2 hour layover in Munich. i will be on the same airline on both flights, just changing planes. do i need a microchip for them? also they are to young for rabbis shots. any help would be greatly appreciated!

  17. I will be traveling using EVA air with my 5 pets (2 dogs 3 cats) from bangkok to the us. I have a 4 1/2 hour stopover in Taiwan. Do I need an import permit in Taiwan? Please answer ASAP. I am a nervous mess.
    RESPONSE
If the pets are staying on the same airline and are checked through to the US then the airline will transfer them from plane to plane and you do not need the paperwork for Taiwan. If you plan to only check them as far as Taiwan so that you can walk them or if they are changing airlines then you will need to comply with the rules for Taiwan which are available here: http://www.pettravelstore.com/products/Pet-Passport-Taiwan.html
    Jerry

  18. I have to send my friend’s rabbit to Mongolia from Taiwan. Can I send the rabbit alone via airplane?
    RESPONSE
The airlines will accept rabbits as air cargo. To make the arrangements you must find an airline that flies direct between the two cities (the pet cannot change airlines enroute) and then call their air cargo department to make the arrangements. Do not call reservations, you need to call air cargo. The animal must travel in an IATA compliant pet crate such as these:

  19. I am planning to bring my french bulldog to Taiwan with me. I heard the dog will need to stay for exam for an entire month!!! Is there anyway that I can avoid this? Can’t imagine leaving my dog for that long.

    Thank you very much.
    Maggie
    RESPONSE
There is no need for the pet to go into quarantine but you must first obtain an import permit and the pet must have had a blood titer test six months before arrival in Taiwan. And of course it must have a veterinary health certificate. If any of the above conditions are not met the pet will be placed in quarantine for up to six months or destroyed. I assume you are traveling from the United States. If you need the complete instructions and forms required they are available here:

  20. Hello,
I am planning a one to two year stay in Peru, I have four dogs. My daughter who is coming with me has one. I plan to go for 6 weeks to set up before bringing them to Peru, via plane. Do I have to travel with them and should they all come at once or one at a time? Thanks in advance for your advice!
    RESPONSE
With that many pets it really makes more sense for them to travel a air cargo. They will still travel in the same special section of the cargo hold where the temperature and pressure is the same as in the cabin. They could also travel on the same flight as your daughter and her dog which could travel as checked baggage or as air cargo. You need to contact the air cargo department of the airline to make the arrangements. The animals must each travel in their own IATA compliant pet crate and be accompanied by the proper documents for entering Peru. You can find everything that you need at http://www.pettravelstore.com including the pet passorts for Peru and the IATA compliant pet crates.

  21. Im sending my Rabbit from the UK to the USA , but not travelling with him – using a door to door (to my in-laws) pet relocation service with some boarding in the UK for 1-2months at the start. He’ll leave London UK and final destination would be in Tennessee, USA. Would he need US country and state import docs? Thanks! Jez
    RESPONSE
The rabbit must be accompanied by a certificate of good health to enter the US. There are no special requirements for the State of Tennessee. If you need the instructions and health certificate for the US it is available here and can be emailed to you. No vaccinations are required.

  22. What if I take my cat as a carry-on? Will I still need a pet transit permit for Japan?

(I am traveling from USA to Taiwan with a plane change in NRT Japan.)
    Thank you, Jerry!
    RESPONSE
Not unless you have to go through customs to change to the next flight. That is unlikely if you are on the same airline but at some airports if you change airlines you do have to go through customs. You should check with your airline.
    Jerrry

  23. Hi, I will be traveling with my cat from USA to Taiwan via United Airline; however, we will have a plane change (still the same airline) at NRT Japan. Will I need any sort of pet permit to transit through Japan?
    Thanks!
    RESPONSE
As long as your pet remains on the same airline United will transfer the pet to the next flight. You will not see the pet and it will not go through immigration so nothing is required. You will of course need the forms for entry into Taiwan which includes your pet having a blood titer test well in advace of the travel date. If you would like the complete forms and instructions they are available here:
    https://www.pettravelstore.com/pet-passport-taiwan/
    Jerry

  24. Hi! I have a toy dog I want to bring back with me from PHILIPPINES to Taipei. What documents do i need ?
    RESPONSE
Taiwan requires that your pet be micro chipped with the ISO 15 digit microchip, that the pet have a blood titer test performed in advance of travel and that you apply for an import permit and finally have your veterinarian complete the veterinary certificate for Taiwan.
The complete forms and instructions are here and can be emailed to you:
    https://www.pettravelstore.com/pet-passport-taiwan/
    Jerry

  25. Is the pet transit permit for Japan just basically a veterinarian’s certificate of good health that the animal is healthy to travel and carries no diseases communicable to humans or parasites? I don’t see any Japan-specific forms in the link you mention. Please clarify. Thank you.
    RESPONSE
The transit permit is a permit to transit Japan. The information is available here: https://www.pettravelstore.com/pet-passport-japan-transit/
    Jerry

  26. You mention the need to get a “pet transit permit” for pets transiting Japan. How do I get this permit? When transiting through NRT (Tokyo Narita), I always have to go through security, so can’t take any liquids with me, for example, but I don’t think I have to go through passport control. I am still TRANSITING Japan, though, so how do I go about getting a “pet transit permit”? I will flying with my cats in-cabin and/or as excess baggage on the same flights I will be taking BKK-NRT-JFK. Thank you.
    RESPONSE
If you do have to go through passport control then you will need to comply with their immigration rules for pets. If you are merely transiting the country a transit permit will suffice.
    The are available here: https://www.pettravelstore.com/categories/Pet-Passports/

  27. Hi, My children and I are currently in Germany and would like to know if it is possible to travel back to the U.S.A with a hamster?
    Thanks
    RESPONSE
The US does not ban or even monitor the import of personal pet hamsters. However, most airlines will not allow them to travel in the cabin although you might try Lufthansa. If not the pet would have to travel as checked baggage in an IATA compliant pet crate.

  28. Jerry,

I am traveling from Lima, Peru to Denver, Colorado with a few hours stopover in the Miami Airport. It’s all on American Airlines. I’m planning to check my dog as baggage. I’m really confused about what happens once I land in Miami. Will my dog come out with all the bags or will I have to go get him somewhere? Or does the dog just transfer to the connecting flight without me ever seeing him?

If I have to collect the dog with all my bags and take him through customs, what happens in customs? Does it usually take a long time to get a pet through customs in Miami, assuming I have all of the paperwork in order?

My stopover in Miami is approximately 2 hours, 10 minutes. Is that enough time to deal with the dog and customs? Hope you can help. I called almost every help desk at American Airlines and no one could give me a straight answer. Thanks!

    Jon L.

    RESPONSE
Both you and your pet will need to go through customs on arrival in Miami.
You will pick up the pet in the baggage claim area along with your other
bags and go through customs. If you have the veterinry certificate and the
pet has been vaccinated for rabies and is free of parasistes your pet will
clear customs at the same time that you do.

I would think that 2 1/2 hours should be enough time to pick up your pet, go
through customs and then recheck the pet for the next flight.

    Susan

  29. Hi…I’m travelling from India to the US with a little dog, to be booked in cargo. Should I opt for a non-stop continental flight (14hrs) – seems like it would be too long for her to be in the crate. The other option is to transit in Munich. Does she need papers for transit also? Thanks ruma
    RESPONSE
In order to transit Germany it depends on the type of transit. If the pet is just changine airplanes on the same airline then nothing is required. If the pet is stopping to be walked or changing airlines then you must meed the requirements of Germany. To bring the pet into the US from India it must have a health certificate be vaccinated for rabies and have an inspection for screwworm. If you would like the complete instructions and forms for Germany or the US they are available at http://www.pettravelstore.com and then click on Pet Passports.

  30. hello, im travelling with my dog from egypt to thailand. he has european passport , chip, vaccination, etc.
im required to have an oficial health certificate . from thailand to egypt they made one official at pet quarantine office. my question is , can i do the same in egypt. is it possible to do in another airport , like sharm elsheik instead of cairo?
    thank you!
    julia
    RESPONSE
You can take your pet into Thailand but you must first obtain an import permit well in advance of your travel date. If you need the complete instructions and the forms including the import application they are available here and will be emailed to you: https://www.pettravelstore.com/pet-passport-thailand/

  31. Hi,

I’m going to travel with my Collie dog from Canada to Hamburg, Germany. My dog has microchip, rabies vacination and EU form 998 health certificate. But I was told in some cases, blood test has to be done and details must be shown. Could someone help please.
    Thx
    RESPONSE
If you are traveling from the United States or another country with a low incidence of rabies the blood titer test is NOT required. You have everything that yoiu need to enter Germany without quarantine.
    Jerry

  32. Quick question:

If I booked an international flight with my pet and had to connect in a 3rd country, are there any necessary additional papers I need?

So hypothetically, lets say the origin country was Argentina, the connection was in the USA, and the final destination was Germany. Now assuming that all 3 countries have the same policies and everything is taken care of (Argentine certified pet certificate, rabies vaccination proof, microchip, etc) would I need to goto a vet in the USA and to the USDA to get the certificate certified for a 5 hour lay-over in the US from Argentina on the way to Germany?
    RESPONSE
If your pet remains on the same airline into and out of the US the airline will transfer the pet from one flight to another and the pet never enters the US (technically). If you are checking the pet only as far as the US and then plan on going through immigration and taking the pet for a walk then you need to comply with the US rules. Germany has all together different requirements including needing the ISO microchip, rabies vaccination and the EU form 998 certificate for Germany. If you would like the complete rules and forms for either the US or Germany they are available here: http://www.pettravelstore.com/categories/Pet-Passports/

  33. Hi,
My Father will be traveling from El Salvador with his dog to visit me. He has already had his dog vaccinated for rabies and had the dog checked out so his dog could travel. Will there be any issues with my father entering the US with a travelers visa, or do you know the correct US agency I can call to get the information.

    Thanks,
    David
    RESPONSE
The US only requires that the pet be vaccinated for rabies and be accompanied by a certificate of good health which has the veterinarians certification that the pet is free of screwworm. Your father can then enter the US with a pet without a problem. If you would like the complete instructions and US health certificate visit this page and we can email the information and forms to you or your father.

  35. I am moving to Macau from NY. I am trying to figure out how to get my cat there. I can’t seem to find an itinerary where the cat can fly in the cabin and not face quarantine in transit. Any ideas? Thanks!
    RESPONSE:
Hong Kong has a number of requirements including the fact that you must get an import permit in advance. Hong Kong requires that the pet remain on the same plane from the point where it is flying into Hong Kong until it reaches Hong Kong. If there is no direct flight from the US then you would have to fly into some other country. Enter that country and then fly to Hong Kong. No matter where you fly from Hong Kong only allows pets to arrive as manifested cargo and not in the cabin. There is no reason for the pet to be quarantined if you follow the rules of entry. If you would like the complete instructions, rules and pet passport forms for Hong Kong and perhaps an intermediate country they are available here: Just scroll down to the country.

  36. Hello All!
I am an American english teacher based in korea. I want to go to vietnam on my summer vacation but have my dachshund with me. I am considering making him world traveler as well and taking him with me on vacation, but I don’t know about the re-entry requirements for him to come back to korea. Anyone out there know how that works?!?!!? I’ve been looking all over the place for just a glimpse of some sort of answer with no luck. Thanks!
Korea is quite easy as they only require a current health certificate and that your pet be vaccinated for rabies. If you would like the complete rules and forms go to http://www.pettravelstore.com and click on pet passports and scroll down to Korea.

  37. Hi, I am relocating my dog from Singapore (rabies-free)to Washington DC in July. I am considering flying with ANA (All Nippon Airways), changing planes in Narita, Japan.

    1. SIN-NRT-IAD

    My question is:
Do I require a transit permit in NRT?
    RESPONSE
If your pet is remaining on the same airline into and out of Japan then the airline will normally make the arrangements. No transit permit would be required.
    Jerry

Besides a health certificate from the vet and a rabies vaccination, what else does the US authorities require?

I have an airline approved hard travel crate large enought for my pet to stand fully erect, lay down and sit. It has a snap lock instead of bolts and nuts. It does however have ready drilled holes in it for bolts and nuts or heavy duty plastic cable ties. Does airlines approve cable ties?

  38. Hi, we are a military family and will be relocating to South Korea from the US. We will be bringing our cat along with us to the assignment and are curious as to the requirements for quarantine and customs in South Korea. Additionally, are there airlines that will allow the cat to travel with me inside the cabin, as I am hesitant to have my pet travel as cargo.

    Thanks,
    Lisa
    RESPONSE
Some airline will allow small cats in the cabin, Korean Air normally does but you will need to ask the airlines reservation office when you are making your arrangements for your travel. It cannot be done online. Korea has no unique requirements, only that you have your pet vaccinated for rabies and have a veterinarian in the US complete the health certificate for Korea which is available at https://www.pettravelstore.com and then click on pet passports and scroll down to Korea.

  39. Hello, I have a dog I want to bring back with me from Poland to Taiwan. However the quarantine facility in Taiwan is full and my pet must travel alone after me. Can pets travel alone as cargo and fly INDIRECT flights? There are no direct flights from Warsaw to Taiwan and he must transfer in larger airports such as Frankfurt. Thank you for your help!
    RESPONSE
Yes pets can travel alone. You need to call the air cargo department of the airline that flies between the two countries. The airline will transfer the pet from one flight to another but it MUST remain on the same airline the entire trip.
    Jerry

  40. I will be traveling to Kyiv from US with cat on-board. If my layover is in Denmark, what should I expect? In general, do you require additional paperwork for transiting through a country (Denmark, Germany, Iceland) if not entering?
    RESPONSE
If you remain with your cat inside the customs area and your pet is traveling in the cabin then you do not enter the country. However Iceland can be more difficult. If your cat is traveling as checked baggage and remains on the same airline then you are oka. Again Iceland can be more difficult. If the cat is traveling as checked baggage and changes airlines then it is more complicated.

  41. Hi,

I will be traveling with my toy poodle in cabin via Korean Air from Washington to Singapore. I have a 15 hour layover in Incheon. Are there any quarantine or pet friendly areas within the airport where I can take him out for a while? Any recommendations as I’m trying not to leave the airport during this layover.

In order to take the pet out for a walk you will have to go through immigration and present the health certificate for Korea however it is not complicated.
You can find the information and forms here: https://www.pettravelstore.com/pet-passport-korea/

  42. Hi I want to take my yorkie to my Bolivia visit in two weeks. He is four months old and up to date on all vaccines. How do I know, find out all requirements to be able to take him on my trip? Will they allow him once I get to Bolivia? Fees, costs anything will help.
    Thanks!
    RESPONSE
As long as your pet has been vaccinated for rabies at least 30 days prior to entering Bolivia and it has the Certificado Zoo-Sanitario for Bolivia which is their health certificate you will have no problem entering the country. To the best of our knowledge they do not not charge any fees.
If you would like the complete instructions and all of the pet passport forms go to http://www.pettravelstore.com and then click on Pet Passports and scroll down to Bolivia.

  43. Hi, thank you for this great blog. I hope you can help me answer this question: I am taking my dog as an ESA (Emotional Support Animal) from Miami to Spain via France. She will be the whole time with me but once in France we will just go through immigration and transfer to the connecting flight. Will I need the paperwork for a dog to enter FRANCE? I have the papers for Spain, but I just want to make sure I don’t need the French ones as well.

    THANK YOU!
    RESPONSE
If you are going thru immigration in France then you will need the Annex veterinary certificate for France.

  44. My wife are planing to move from Thailand to Atlanta,Ga.
I have two options in airlines, 1). Delta through Narita, change flights and then non-stop to Atlanta all on Delta.
Option 2). China Airlines through Taiwan to LA change to Delta and then to Atlanta.
I would prefer non-stop with only one change at Narita. Please walk me through my steps to do this from Bangkok through Narita and safely home in Atlanta.
    RESPONSE
I assume your pet is traveling as checked baggage. As long as the pet remains on Delta Airlines into and out of Japan then it will not actually enter the country and Delta will make the transfer of flights. However the pet will be in the crate for an extended period of time. Delta will arrange for the transit permit. Delta will ask you at the time of departure for the paperwork to enter the US.

The alternative is the Taiwan connection. This will not work for you for since the pet would change airlines it would actually enter Taiwan and that requires a blood titer test six months in advance.

If you need the complete instructions and US veterinary health certificate for the US it is available at https://www.pettravelstore.com and then click on Pet Passports and scroll down to the United States. We can email the documents to you.

Thailand is a screwworm infected country so as a part of the veterinarian completing the paperwork in Thailand he must inspect the pet and certify it to be free of screwworm.

  46. Hi. I want to know if it will be possible to bring my dog on a flight from Hamburg, Germany to Miami on July 1st. I’ll be attending grad school and I’ve had my basset hound for many years and he’s very attached to me.

Will the heat embargo restrictions apply to him if he’s traveling internationally? I know the pettravel.com main page says that most international carriers waive this restriction, but I would just like to be sure.

    Thank you for the info!

    You are welcome

  47. Hello!

I live in Seoul and I have a Yorkshire terrier puppy. I’m going to live in Spain and I want to take him with me. What do I need? If it’s a long haul flight with a stop over. What do I do?
    Thanks
    Amanda
    RESPONSE
In order to take your pet into Spain from Korea which is a country with a high incidence of rabies so the pet must first be micro chipped with the ISO 15 digit microchip, vaccinted for rabies and then have a blood titer test at least 3 months before travel and finally you will have a veterinarian complete the EU form 998 health certificate for Spain. Your pet will be traveling as checked baggage and if you remain on the same airline to and from the Intermediate country then nothing else is required. If you wish to claim the pet, take it for a walk and then check it on the next flight you will need to comply with that intermediate countries rules. You need to call the airline reservations office to make a booking for your pet – it cannot be done online.

If you need the complete rules and instructions and all of the necessary forms for taking a pet to Spain then go to https://www.pettravelstore.com and click on Pet Passports and scroll down to Spain.

Taking your pet into Belize is fairly easy as they only require that you have a certificate of good health and get an import permit. Are you aware that when you return to the UK the pet will have to go into a quarantine center for six months?
If you need the complete instructions and forms for Belize or for the return to the UK they are available at https://www.pettravelstore.com and then click on Pet Passports.
